Welcome to the website of the Clwyd Soaring Association. The club is located in the very heart of the magnificent scenery of North Wales and caters for all aspects of model soaring. The club has the use of both private slope and flat field facilities so all branches of the sport are catered for – slope, sport, scale, aerotow, winch and bungee. Membership includes affiliation to the national governing body – the BMFA which comes with full third party liability insurance and is compulsory for membership. Modellers who are members of other clubs who already have BMFA affiliation can join as country members and are only liable for club subscription. The current level of subscriptions can be viewed on the membership page.
All categories of membership are most welcome – both expert and novice alike. For those less experienced flyers that are looking for help in progressing with their building and/or flying, the club has a wealth of experienced members only too willing to help.
The club flies at all possible opportunities – weather permitting, both on the slope and at the flat field depending upon the conditions. We have slopes available for all wind directions but due east is probably the most difficult.
There are several tugs available for aerotowing right across the size range of models from both small sport gliders up to the largest scale machines. Also, the club has a first class electric winch and bungee – all for use on the field.
Regular monthly indoor meetings are held throughout the winter months on the third Tuesday of each month – see the meetings page for more information and location map.
The club publishes three newsletters a year that can be downloaded from this site as pdf documents. Members are encouraged to contribute to these newsletters with articles, items of interest and news.
